In Mumbai, the CBI filed a chargesheet against income-tax officer Sandeep Singh. Singh, who was on deputation as an assistant director at the Enforcement Directorate (ED), was allegedly caught accepting a bribe while leading a search team raiding a jeweller's residence in connection with a money laundering case involving a Chinese-controlled investment app. Despite not being the investigating officer, Singh demanded a Rs 20 lakh bribe from the jeweller after the raid and instructed him to deliver the money via hawala in Delhi. The jeweller reported this corruption to the CBI, resulting in Singh's arrest after a trap was set and he collected the bribe in Delhi. Singh, whose bail application was rejected by the sessions court, is currently in jail custody. The CBI also seized a phone not registered under Singh's name during his arrest.
